Watercolour Artist Sally Pinhey, of Kingston Maurward College gave a most interesting account last night of her Himalayan Trek, where she observed familiar garden plants in their natural habitat. In the first of our ‘Dinner Group’ presentations, an enthusiastic gathering enjoyed a delicious supper (including lavender sponge roll filled with blackberry mousse!) prior to Sally’s presentation – where she quizzed us on our knowledge of plant species and showed spectacular photo’s of her wonderful trek.

While Anna’s been away we have been really busy at The Langton. Today the first steam engines have visited from the Great Dorset Steam Fair to sample our selection of fine real ales.

The menu for this event is still to be finalised but is likely to be a choice of Dorset Chicken breast in a creamy sauce or Fillet of salmon baked with a herb crust  served with a white wine veloute, both served with a selection of potatoes and vegetables.

Friends of Victoria Hospital Barn Dance

For the last four years The Langton Arms has been proud to support fund raising for the Victoria Hospital. The friends have raised many of the thousands of pounds needed for the rebuild of part of the hospital.

WIRE ~ Woman in Rural Enterprise is a network group covering the uk but offering local support from regional groups.

New groups are happening all over the country and Barbara, Davina and Louise are delighted to have set up the Dorset Branch.

Exciting news we have picked the first lettuce and spinach of the season and after the much needed rain everything is growing again. Although the farming side of the family are saying we have not had enough rain yet to make any difference but they are never happy!
